Get Paid For Selling Nothing, Part 2...

Drop Capital Imagen my last e-mail, I was telling you about a great way to start making money from Google's Adsense program.

This revolved around building a website, made up almost entirely from other peoples articles.

I said that you would need to create a nice tidy directory for all the articles, to make your site more user friendly and easy to navigate.

Just in case you missed my last article and you are not familiar with Google's Adsense program, here is a link to the Adsense information page on Google's website:

Concentrate on a particular niche market

I also advised that the best way to do this is to concentrate on one particular niche for the site. In other words, don't just throw up a big pile of general articles on numerous subjects. You should be trying to create a valuable information source for people interested in your chosen niche.

As an example, let's say you wanted to create a site focusing on 'parenting'. You could put together a ton of articles on parenting as whole, or drill down and focus on an even tighter niche, like parenting for first time parents.

If you narrow the focus of your site to a very specific niche like the above example 'parenting for first time parents', you stand a much better chance of getting free traffic from the search engines.

Search engines like websites that have a lot of content on one particular niche. If they check your site and find dozens of pages on parenting, in particular for new parents and new born babies, they will view your website as highly relevant to the search term 'parenting for first time parents'. They will reward this relevancy with a higher ranking on their search results.

How to get your web page to appear above
other websites displaying the same article

When you publish articles written by other authors, there's a good chance the same article(s) appear on a number of websites. You stand a much better chance of getting your web page above your competitors, if you have taken the time to optimise your site for the search engines.

Now, search engine optimisation is quite an in depth subject, and a bit beyond this article.

If you want to discover the secret to getting your website to appear near the top of the search engines, and you don't want to spend ages learning everything; one ebook I highly recommend is by Michael Rasmussen. This 173 page ebook is a very comprehensive and up to date resource. I learnt most of what I know about search engines from this ebook.

How to get 'exclusive articles' for your website

Instead of just visiting article directories, and publishing the same articles as everyone else, why not try a different approach.

I created a website a few months back that is made up entirely of other people's articles. I decided to try and see if I could find a load of articles that weren't being overused by other website owners.

Anyway, all I did was go to Google and type in the subject I was interested in, followed by 'articles'. I then went through loads of the search results looking for something out of the ordinary.

I came to one website that was literally filled with about 180 articles relating to the niche I was interested in. This site owner looked like an expert in his field and had already published a book on Amazon.

After having a good look at the articles, I figured that about 140 of them were his original material and the rest were from other authors. Having done a bit of research in the niche I hadn't seen these articles on other sites.

So, I went to Google and performed an 'exact match' search for title of about ten of his articles. If you put your search in inverted commas (“ “), you will find pages with that exact phrase on.

I couldn't find any other websites with the same articles on them. So it looked like, this guy was just using the articles on his own site. He basically used his site to promote his book on Amazon and to gain publicity for his consultancy.

To cut a long story short, I approached him and complimented him on his collection of articles (quoting a few parts to soften him up). I told him that I was putting together a website relating to his niche and wanted to know if he wanted some free publicity.

He wasn't used to getting this sort of proposal and was very receptive to what I had to say. I proposed that he allow me to publish ALL of his articles on my site, and in return I would provide a link back to his website. I also promised to credit him as the author under each article.

This is the amazing bit…

As I was publishing 140 of his articles, I asked him for a kind of biography, so that visitors to my site could find out more about the author. Normally, when you publish other people's articles, you have to include a link back to the author's website with every article. So I would usually have ended up with 140 links from my site to his.

Instead of doing this, I linked each article to this single biography page of him on my site. I then only had 1 link from my site to his!

I didn't hide this from him. He was really happy with the deal because he liked the idea of having a biography of himself on my site. Not forgetting that I did put his name as the author under each article.

I've also added about 40 articles from other authors in the same niche. On every one of these pages is a Google Adsense banner. Every time someone clicks on one of the ads I get paid, whether they buy anything or not.

The site has only been online for a few months so we're not talking big bucks at the moment. But the traffic and profit has been building week on week and I am getting a lot of repeat traffic to the site, so people are finding it a useful resource.

I will add the occasional article when I can, and expect the income to rise steadily over time. The great thing is, I didn't have to write a single article for the site and it's very low maintenance.

Unfortunately, I've decided to keep the address of my website a secret for the time being. Otherwise, I just know that some people will try and copy what I've done exactly and start hassling the author of the 140 articles. I'd hate to ruin the relationship and 'good deal' I've got going with him, and hope you appreciate my reasons for keeping this to myself.

However, I hope by telling you about this, I have given you some food for thought. There's nothing stopping you from copying the 'technique' I used; to broker your own deal with an 'expert' in a different niche.

TIP: If you set out to build a website that is filled with marketing articles, you are not likely to get an 'expert' to agree to the type of deal I just discussed. You should try and focus your attentions on niche markets away from the home bus.iness and Internet marketing field.

This really is a great way to buiid a profitable, content rich website that's' very low maintenance, without having to write any of the content yourself.
