A Simple Formula For Getting a
Project Started and Finished Quickly…
Have you subscribed to my RSS feed yet?. Thanks for visiting!
Do you keep having trouble getting a project finished or even started? If so, you might find this process useful, it has definitely helped me…
I don’t know about you, but when I used to work for someone else, I didn’t have a problem getting things done. I was given a job or a project to get done within a certain time frame…and it would get done!
Now that I work for myself, I’m not tied to someone else’s deadlines or expectations. This has benefits but also drawbacks, because it’s easy to jump from one project idea to the next without getting anything done.
List All The Tasks You Need To Do
To help overcome this problem I give myself a list of tasks to get done, and put a realistic but fairly tight deadline to each one.
I’ll create an Excel spreadsheet for each project and list down all the things I need to do to get a new product and or website online and ready.
Next to each task I’ll put my time deadline, then a box where I’ll put a ‘Yes’ in when it’s done. At the end I’ll also write in ‘on time’ or how long I missed the deadline by.
This helps me to focus a bit better, and when I see too many missed deadlines it makes me try a bit harder, to get the next ones in on time.
Once the site is up and running, I’ll also list down the marketing tasks that I will be doing on-going, so I can keep tabs on what I need to do.
A System You Can Repeat Over and Over…
The good thing about creating these lists is that it helps you create a system you can duplicate.
For example, lets say you want to set up a new website for a content site, or maybe a private label ebook you want to sell.
The process for setting up and marketing a site for one niche is likely to be very similar for most other markets. If you list down all the tasks you need to do with your first site, you can then use the exact same process to set up the next one even faster.
If you look back at what you’ve done, you could probably move a few things in a different order to get things done faster, or more efficiently. It’s all a learning process, that gets refined more and more each time.
You end up with a fine tuned ‘fill in the blanks’ system, which is easy to follow and stick to.
If you don’t have a system or a list of tasks to follow and get done, it’s very easy to get distracted by some idea that pops into your head, or some email that hits your inbox.
If your plan is just in your head, it’s very easy to abandon it and jump to the next big thing. But if you have things down on paper, or in a spreadsheet that you work on and view each day, it makes it harder to leave projects unfinished, and easier to get them done.
Start doing this today, and my guess is that by the end of the week or month, you will look back and see that you’ve got so much more done.

“Still Chasing Your Dream?
- The Missing Pieces To
The Puzzle Are Here…”
If you haven’t quite realised your dream of running your Internet business full-time yet, this is for you…
I’ve been publishing my newsletter for two and half years now. This has given me the opportunity to interact with, help and follow the progress of many of my subscribers.
I’ve seen people when they were first starting out. No money, very little knowledge and experience, and now they have a line of successful products, content sites and membership sites.
How come these guys have achieved success, when so many other people are struggling to make any money at all?
Well, the obvious first answer is that they have worked really hard, and taken ‘massive action’ to achieve their goals.
That said, I know a lot of people who have worked very, very hard, but achieved very little.
So whilst hard work and taking action is essential, it will not guarantee your success. You need those few extra ingredients to help you get where you want to go.
A great way to find those missing links, is to study people who have already achieved what you want to do.
Learn from their mistakes and what didn’t work for them, but more importantly, what they have done and what they continue to to do, that keeps working and making money for them over time…those things that helped to turn them from just following a dream, to actually running their own successful Internet business full-time.
With this aim in mind, fellow subscriber Niall Mehaffey went out and interviewed 8 full time Internet marketers, to find how they became successful, and what they are doing to help grow, manage and automate their business more effectively…
I was one of the people Niall interviewed, so I can definitely vouch for the quality of the interviews. ;-)
If you are still struggling to get to the next level with your Internet business, this is well worth a look. It’s the small details and the missing pieces to the puzzle, that can make the really big difference to your success.
There’s no magic bullet here, because ‘magic’ is not the missing ingredient you are missing. Just simple strategies, tools, directions and the right mindset is all you need to succeed.

If You Get This Wrong Your Website Could Be Closed Down, And Cost You Huge Fines…
Just imagine how devastated you would be…if you not only had your Internet business closed down, but you also got hit with huge fines which you can’t afford to pay?
All that hard work and money you put in, only to see it all taken away from you…without you even knowing you were doing something wrong in the first place!
I don’t know about you but the thought of that happening to me is very scary. This is why I’m going to be listening to an important free interview, with Bob Silber this Wednesday.
Internet Law - What You Need To Know…
In case you haven’t already heard of Bob, he’s one of the world’s leading authorities on Internet law. Many of the Internet’s most successful marketers rely on Bob’s advice, to protect them and their business online.
Bob is going to be interviewed on a free live learning event this Wednesday, where he will be revealing amongst other things:
- Four simple things your website must include - otherwise you are running the serious risk of having your business closed down!
- Why some of the marketing strategies you are currently using are probably illegal.
- The most common misconceptions about Intellectual Property - Bob says hardly anyone gets this right!
- The real laws regarding Resale Rights Licensing, and why most of what’s being spread around is dangerously wrong!
- The genuine meaning and use of Trademarks and Copyrights. Almost every website owner has this drastically wrong.
This very important Interview is going to be available free to all Simpleology members, which is an excellent free membership site that I previously recommended here.
You can find out more about the free Bob Silber learning event, including how to claim your free Simpleology membership here:

Listen to the Bob Silber interview FREE
This live learning event is part of a continuing series of expert interviews via simultaneous webcast and telecast, which are provided free to all Simpleology members every month. These learning events are also recorded and made available for download in the members area.
At the time of writing there is already 24 previous interviews for you to listen to, from experts in many different fields and disciplines. I will be listening to the Bob Silber interview myself, and if you want to protect your online business I urge you to do the same.
Wishing you success,

“How To Stay Focused, Avoid Distractions, And Get Twice As Much Done As You Do Now…”
Although I work very hard, I have to deal with a lot of distractions every day. For those who don’t know, I combine working full time on my business with looking after my two sons, now aged 3 and 5. I feel extremely privileged to be able to do this, and wouldn’t swap my position with anyone.
However, as you can imagine what with 3 school trips to do each day, meal times, reading, crafts and multiple other activities to organise and supervise (’Get Daddy Time’ is my favourite), my day is littered with distractions.
Add to that the many different business opportunities I come across each day, I have found it all too easy to lose focus and steer off track.
I have often looked back at the end my day, knowing that I’d worked really hard, but when I thought about it I had actually got very little done, if anything at all.
If you can relate to what I’m talking about, I know you will really appreciate what I am about to share with you…
I want to tell you about something that has had a big impact on both me and my business in the last month.
"Because It Was FREE…I Didn’t
Appreciate The True Value Of
What I Had In My Possession"
Like most people, I quite often don’t appreciate the value of something if I get it for free. Last summer there was a huge promotion for a new membership site called Simpleology.
Like thousands of other people, I didn’t hesitate to join as soon as I read the sales page.
Sadly that’s all I did do…’join’.
I logged in straight away, spent about five minutes poking my head around the place, and then said to myself that I’d log back in and check it out properly, ‘when I have the time’. How ironic those last four words sound now. ;-)
A day, a week and a month went by, and by then I’d completely forgotten about it. Does this sound like a familiar story to you?
Anyway, to cut a long story short, I decided to check it out again after having a conversation with someone last month.
This time I decided to take the course a bit more seriously. Just to see if there was any foundation to all that hype, which I had been literally bombarded with some 8 months earlier.
"An Amazing ‘Re-Discovery…
And Just What I Needed!"
I started to see the benefits of Simpleology after just 2 days, because I was already getting a lot more work done. After using the Simpleology program for about a month now, I can’t keep it to myself any longer.
This is an incredible program and it’s free to get in, so you’d be mad not to give this a go!
After completing the Free Simpleology 101 course:
- I now have a very clear picture in my mind (and written down on paper) of what I ‘really’ want to achieve, in both the long, medium and short term.
This is a huge deal, because before my goals were far to vague, and this lead me to follow a very staggered path to achieving them, because I just didn’t have a clear target to aim at. I would often go off on complete tangents, chasing opportunities that were taking me away from my goals.
Now everything I’m doing is taking me in the direction I want to follow, and I can thank Simpleology for keeping me on track each day.
- I now don’t have those days were it seems like I got nothing done, because I have become so much better at focusing my attention and energy, ‘on what I really want to do’.
Please don’t make the same mistake as I did, and think that Simpleology is just about writing down a few goals on a bit of paper. Believe me, there is so much more to it than that.
As the name suggests Simpleology is very ’simple’ and easy to follow, but it is also extremely powerful and has helped me tremendously.
If you want to get a lot more done each day, and work on the things that take you towards your goals, not away from them, sign up for a free Simpleology account right now…and start using it! :-)

Information Overload: How To Manage Your Email More Effectively
Do you ever feel like you are drowning in information overload, and that your email inbox is a huge burden on your time?
If this sounds like you, I have some tips and tricks I want to share with you, so that you can finally get back in charge of your inbox, instead of your inbox being in charge of you.
As someone who is constantly learning and studying business and Internet marketing strategies, I regularly buy new software tools, information products, download free reports and subscribe to free newsletters.
As a result of this, I have found myself on multiple email lists from many different Internet marketers all over the place. I am currently on at least 100+ lists, and I stay subscribed to them because I want to keep up to date with what’s going on in my niche, and study the methods and sales tactics of other marketers.
As you can imagine, I get a ton of email each day, but I manage to keep on top of all information hitting my inbox, because I’ve organized my email very effectively.

Disaster: My Blog Crashed
Here’s How I Fixed It…
I’m not quite sure when you last visited my blog, but earlier this morning I was told about a problem with my blog. Thank you Blaz, I appreciate you letting me know :-)
When I came and had a look, all my blog posts had disappeared! Just a big fat error message sitting at the top of my blog.
Was I gutted? Yes!
Did I panic? No, well maybe a little bit.
I haven’t got a clue about programming databases or PHP scripts (which is what runs my Wordpress blog). I did buy a book to try and learn to program with PHP once, but I never got past the first 5 pages, because it looked really daunting, and I felt instantly bored with the thought of learning it all.
However, I managed to find the cause of my blog problem, and fix everything within a few minutes. If you publish your own blog you might want to know how I did it…

How To Avoid Buying
A Banned Domain Name
Yesterday, I decided to set up a new content site targeting niche market. I almost made a big goof, by registering a domain that I believe is probably banned from Google. Thankfully, I have a few checks which I now run through before I register a new domain, and that helped me to spot a potential problem before it happened.
Here’s what I did…
After doing some keyword research, I decided on a niche site to target. Off I went to http://www.Godaddy.com to see what good domain names were available.
The niche I have found looks pretty good.
- Plenty of searches being done for a lot of different keywords.
- A decent amount being spent on pay-per-click advertising. From a quick initial brainstorm, I’ve found at least 200+ keywords in the $1.50 to $3.00 range, with some that are much higher ($20).
- I’ve already got access to lot of private label articles, for this niche. Plus I’ve found plenty of information in the public domain, which I can change around a bit and re-use.
- There’s is also a number of high paying affiliate programs and products to promote in this niche, some with recurring commission.
- The competion in the search engines is fairly strong, but I’ve already spotted quite a few keywords that are not being targeted too heavily by other sites.
It’s going to take a lot of effort on my part, but this does look like a great niche to build a content site for.
Now, having done all this ground work, and then deciding that I’m going to be spending quite a bit of time developing this site, I really wanted to get myself a decent domain name for it.
This is when I could have made a big mistake…

Here's How I Fixed It...
Controversial Marketing Shortcuts:
Blog Comment Spam
As human beings (and marketers), it’s in our nature to take shortcuts. I’m not immune to this myself, as I’m always looking for faster ways to do things.
However, sometimes you have to take a step back and look at the ethical and moral side effects of what you do, and consider the impact those actions could have on your own business and reputation.
Last month a new software product was released, which was touted as being able to get you a flood of traffic from other people’s Blogs. I haven’t used this software, but I’ve got an idea of how it works, and I’ve definitely seen the mess it can make on unsuspecting Blogs.
In a nutshell, you pump a few bits of information into this software, like keywords and your website link. This ‘clever’ but unethical software will go out and find hundreds, if not thousands of Blogs, and post tons of ‘pretend’ comments from you, with a link back to your blog.
Thankfully, it seems to be only infecting Blogs using the Blogger service, but that could soon change. I’ve seen Blogs that were getting no comments or very little before; then all of a sudden they’re getting 100+ comments a day from people who have clearly never read the posts, or been to the Blogs they are commenting on.
So How Is This Causing Any Harm?
What I don’t like is that the sales letter for the software implies that it’s a win, win situation. You get loads of traffic from the Blogs you auto post comments on, and the blog owners get lots of comments making their blog appear popular.
I have to say that is a load of c#@p!
As someone who wants to create a useful and informative blog for my readers, I encourage anyone who ‘READS’ any of my posts to make a comment, whether it be a compliment, a comment on the topic I’m writing about, additional useful information on the topic, or even some constructive criticism about me or my particular viewpoint.
Are You Committing Reputation Suicide?
Let’s look at this from the perspective of the people using blog comment submission software…
In the short term, I have no doubt that after using this software, users of it will indeed get a nice injection of extra traffic to their websites. Just as they were promised when they bought it.
But at what long term cost?
Will their opinions carry the same weight as they did before?
It’s Like Groundhog Day For Blog Comments
Here’s an example of what I’m talking about…
I came across this blog that is getting over run with these auto generated comments. Duplicate comments are being made from the same people every day. Sometimes, twice or more a day saying the same thing. Each time they go something like:
"Yo, This blog is pretty neat. You should check out mine sometime. It pretty much covers [their keyword stuffed link goes here] related stuff."
Now, on it’s own, there’s nothing overly wrong with that comment, although it is a bit too obvious that it was only made to get a link back to the comment poster’s site.
Tell me honestly…if you saw multiple blog comments like the one above from the same person, almost daily, saying virtually the exact same thing, on the same blog, week in week out, making it abundantly clear that they have never even been to the blog they are commenting on, would you think of that person as someone whose opinion is worth something? Someone worth listening to, learning from, buying from, and whose recommendation you could trust?
NO!
Now, imagine dozens of comments from different people that are similar to the above, underneath every single post being made on thousands of different Blogs. What happens is; the real comments from genuine readers of the blog, get completely lost in the middle of the spam. For me, the comments on that site are now not worth reading. It’s not worth my time wading through all the spam to find the genuine comments.
A snapshot…
One blog post I saw on someone’s blog had 109 comments. I thought blimey, they must get a lot of traffic. Then I took a closer look at the comments…
- 7 people posted 2 comments
- 8 people posted 3 comments
- 1 ‘idiot’ made 15 comments
Every single one of those 109 comments was almost identical. Just a few words changed here and there, and different keywords used for each link. From what I could see, every one of the comments were made by people giving the impression it was the first time they had been to the blog. Problem was, they had been making the same multiple duplicate comments for days, and will probably go on making them indefinitely.
These poor blog owners have worked hard to create a blog worth visiting. I’m sure they’d love to get ‘real’ comments from genuine people, who have actually read their blog posts, but not all this spam which just devalues their blog.
Imagine…100+ comments being made against each and every blog post, saying the exact same thing, day in day out, for weeks and months. Who is going to read that?
Think Before You Do This!
If you are considering using a piece of software that is essentially going to send spam to other people’s websites, ‘think’ about all the angles before you jump in with both feet.
Jason Lewis
P.S. A caveat: As I’ve said, I haven’t used this software or seen it first hand, which is why I’m not going to name it here. It could be that it’s just a minority of rogue users who are using the software unethically, without any consideration of the harm they are doing (to both themselves and blog publishers). If that is the case though, I think the software publishers do have a responsibility to put some restrictions in place, to prevent people miss-using it in this way.
P.P.S. All the people using this software to post these auto generated blog comments, are using keywords in the links back to their sites, with the aim of improving their link popularity for those keywords. The sad part is; they won’t get ‘any’ credit for those links in the search engines.
Most blog software these days, including Blogger, automatically inserts the "no-follow" tag in the HTML code for any links added in the comments area. This stops the spiders from search engines like Google from following the links. The "no-follow" tag was introduced to help combat blog comment spam.

“Just Because Things Have
Always Been Done That Way…”
Once upon a time, a long time ago, there was a clever man. For this story, we will call him Jason. ;-)
Jason lived on the outskirts of a small village called Lemmingsville, which was right in the middle of a huge forest. People living outside of the village, would affectionately refer to the villagers as ‘Lemmings’.
To help make ends meet and pay for food and provisions, the Lemmings would sell wood gathered from the forest. Every weekday, the men, women and children (it was a whole family thing) would go deeper into the forest, and collect as much wood as they could carry.
Then on Saturdays, each family got all their wood together, and carried it 2 miles on foot to a local sawmill. The owner of the sawmill would pay them in cash, and this arrangement had been going on for many generations.
